Bhuma Vidya: Rx for suffering
The remedies offered by Rishi Sanat Kumara suit the modern age complexities and problems of life.

We can apply the principles of Bhuma Vidya for our overall wellbeing. The moment we speak of overall wellbeing, it takes care of the wellbeing even at the level of the lowest/ grossest of our faculties and removing ignorance, at that level. Bhuma Vidya can offer remedies for our sufferings at material or physical level, psychological level and spiritual level. This can touch our physical, psychological, spiritual, social, financial, and self-preservation aspects of our wellbeing. If you are a student, this Vidya can be applied to your studies to get good scores. If you are a professional, you can apply this Vidya to excel in your profession. If you are an entrepreneur, you can apply these principles to manage your resources. You can apply this Vidya to improve relationships. If your goal is spiritual and much higher than all these wordly things, you can just do so to be in the blissful state of Bhuma, which is higher than the Sukham in the 26 step ladder explained in the Bhuma Vidya.

26 steps of Bhuma Vidya are: nama, vak, manas, sankalpam, chittam, dhyanam, vijnanam, balam, annam, jalam, tejas, akasa, smara, asa, prana, satyam, satya jnanam, mati, sraddha, nishta, kartavyam, sukham, bhuma, mahimna, vaiswanara aham, and virat prajna. Several practitioners in Himalayas told me several names for the last three steps. From the narrations of different practitioners, we can understand the tatvas of the last three steps as those of Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma. Shiva tatva is the aspect of the ultimate life force of any being in the universe. Vishnu tatva is the aspect of transformation of one state into another on a continuous basis in a seamlessway. And the Brahma tatva is the premordial intelligence behind every creation. The reason for naming this vidya with the aspect of 23rd step, the state of Bhuma, is that the higherarchy arrangement of superiority of every subsequent stage ends here. 24, 25, and 26th steps are the tatvas of same level and one is not superior or inferior to the other two.
A practitioner of Bhuma Vidya means a person who understands all these 26 tatvas and can dwell in his consciousness in any of these levels without any difficulty. It is something like shifting the gears according to the need of the moment. Levels from 24 are generally said to be unattainable by any amount of sadhana. If nama is LKG, then Bhuma is doctorate.

For most of the people, life is some pleasures, pains, sorrows, and dissatisfaction. We see very few people who are always very happy and blissful. For many people, happiness is like a mirage. The more they are after that, the more it eludes them. On the other hand giving up is not at all a solution. If we look at the life of Rishi Viswamitra, he was unhappy for several things in his life. Each time he tries to overcome an unhappy situation, he moves ahead only to see more issues than before. People feel unhappiness over many thngs. If one lists out, he finds many such things every day. As per modern economists, many miseries of life are related to food, sex, sleep, rest, recreation, and self preservation needs. Even though the sorrow or unhappiness looks like emerged out of these things, it is only a tip of an iceberg, and the real seed lies in much deeper and subtle layers. The moment we understand the workings of several layers of our being and their interactions, we will come to know the causes of our suffering. At the same time one should also understand that pleasure is not the opposite of the pain. It can neither nullify nor offset the pain. Both leave a vaccum at the end and lead to a kind of dissatisfaction.

In each of the subsequent articles, we will cover the 26 steps of Bhuma Vidya and its application to day-to-day life situations that cause us pain or pleasure; sorrow or happiness; and satisfaction or dissatisfaction.
